On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus, Nico and the Navigators overwrite the architecture and history of the Bauhaus buildings. With the help of augmented reality, in which a second level of reality is played on glasses and placed over the real scene, aesthetic and political denominations of Bauhaus masters such as Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, Oskar Schlemmer, Georg Muche and Lászlo Moholy-Nagy are brought to their place of work and negotiated in a playful way.
The result is a parcours through Bauhaus history in which opposing levels of meaning collide until nothing seems the way it is - and vice versa: Is the truth what we see before our eyes - because it is placed in our gaze? Or do we readily allow ourselves to be deceived by icons - also and especially in Classical Modernism?
A production of Nico and the Navigators. Funded in the fund Bauhaus heute by the German Federal Foundation for Culture and the Ministry of Culture and Europe of the Senate - Multisectoral funding. In collaboration with the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, the Georg Kolbe Museum and the Representation of Saxony-Anhalt to the European Union.
