The biennial Arts Festival of Ancient Music “zeitfenster”, held at Berlin's Konzerthaus, also presents staged performances. In naming their performance to the music of Purcell and Dowland “Angel's Share”, Nico and the Navigators are not just referencing the portion of alcohol in the whisky barrel that evaporates and is meant for the angels. Rather their staged concert leads the audience from royal London right through to Scottish village pubs with their popular melodies and love songs. Next season will see this independent theatre group make its debut at Berlin's Deutsche Oper, when new artistic director Dietmar Schwarz opens the former Malersaal as an additional venue.
