“Machine Dreams” at the Science and Theatre Festival in Heilbronn – How AI Expands the Creative Possibilities of Theatre

For curator Mirjam Meuser, one of the great opportunities offered by the Science and Theatre Festival lies in connecting artists who engage with theatre-making in times of digital transformation. Oliver Proske, one of the leading figures behind the digital and music theatre collective Nico and the Navigators, hopes for much more of this kind of exchange. “With networks like those that emerge at festivals such as the one in Heilbronn, digital formats could be developed much more effectively, especially at municipal theatres,” says Proske.

At the opening, Proske presented the “AI Mirror” created by his collective. Audience members were invited to name any American TV series and then saw a reflection of themselves appear on the large screen, cast as a performer in Ally McBeal or Law & Order.
