Vita

He studied with Margreet Honig in Amsterdam. From 2011 to 2018 he was a member of the ensemble at the Staatsoper Stuttgart, where he appeared in roles such as Figaro, Leporello, Papageno, Barbier, Harlequin, and Malatesta. His further engagements include Plutone in “La divisione del mondo” at the Opéra national du Rhin, Papageno at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Guglielmo in “Così fan tutte” with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, Miriways (title role) at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Adario in “Les Indes galantes” at the Zurich Opera House, Fritz in “Die tote Stadt” at the Opéra national de Lorraine, Boris in “Moscow, Cheryomushki” at the Opéra de Lyon, as well as Stephano in “The Tempest” at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. At Dutch National Opera he has appeared as Pompeo in “Benvenuto Cellini”, Jake Wallace in “La fanciulla del West”, the Novice’s Friend in “Billy Budd”, and Thésée in „Oedipe”. At the Opéra Comique in Paris, he made his debut in the title role of “Cadmus et Hermione”. The DVD of this production won the Diapason d’Or and was named DVD of the Year 2009 by the German Record Critics’ Award.

André Morsch has performed with orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, and the Basel Symphony Orchestra, and has worked with conductors including Frans Brüggen, Jaap van Zweden, Ingo Metzmacher, Marc Albrecht, Thomas Hengelbrock, Christophe Rousset, William Christie, Carlo Rizzi, Ivor Bolton, Sylvain Cambreling, and Edo de Waart.
