Endlichkeit der Pixel – Augmented Reality, Tanz, Archiv und Zukunft

AR Loopmachine as a guest at the International Theatre Institute

Since 2019, Nico and the Navigators and Yui Kawaguchi have been exploring the boundaries of reality and imagination, exploring the limits and possibilities of expanded perception with the AR_Loopmachine. The installation creates intermediate worlds – fragile landscapes in which reality appears to be renegotiated and dance, movement and digital projections enter into a timeless symbiosis. But soon, on 1 January 2025, this journey comes to an abrupt end: the security servers in the USA are switched off and the hardware (Magicleap 1 glasses) falls silent. What remains are traces that carry the work into the future, a digital afterglow that is present but no longer visible.

In a two-week installation, we bid farewell and invite you to reflect: How can artistic works and digital worlds endure independently of economic interests and technological change? How do we create digital archives that allow us a future beyond ephemeral hardware? The space between man and machine becomes a mirror of our own transience.

*Free admission to the installation, registration not necessary
