The American-German conductor Jonathan Stockhammer is a charming and enthusiastic advocate for the new and the unusual. Born into a Californian family of musicians, he first studied political science and sinology and, after an existential Mahler experience, fell head over heels for music. As a much sought-after guest of the great symphony orchestras, special ensembles and international opera houses, he has since known no musical boundaries. Jonathan Stockhammer is as open and curious about the core classical-romantic repertoire as he is about the modern and contemporary repertoire.
