Artists fulfil wishes: With the art action PRESENT, NICO AND THE NAVIGATORS want to listen to people who were severely affected by the pandemic and reflect and process freedoms and restrictions during the pandemic together with them.
Artists fulfil wishes: For six days in February – from 22 to 28 February 2021 – the ensemble Nico and the Navigators were on hand at the radialsystem Berlin for a series of musical-scenic miniatures. Six guests were invited to each choose a piece of music – from pop to classical – and tell about their specific experiences with the pandemic. A questionnaire was used for preparation, which looked at private as well as social aspects of Covid-19. The invited guests are existentially affected by the virus in different ways and thus represent many people in our society.
Nico and the Navigators have made a music video dedicated to each guest within one day, based on the music wishes and lyrics of those affected. The participants can remain anonymous if they wish. From 27 March, the music video series PRESENT was published on the radialsystem website and various social media.
The musical and scenic line-up for the individual video clips may vary:
From the string quartet Kuss Quartett, the pianist Matan Porat, the violinist Elfa Rún Kristinsdóttir, the drummer Philipp Kullen, the electric guitarist Tobias Weber, to the baritone Nikolay Borchev, the tenor Ted Schmitz, the dancer Yui Kawaguchi, the dancer Ruben Reniers, the dancer Florian Graul, the actress Annedore Kleist as well as the actor Patric Schott.
A production by Nico and the Navigators funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe. In cooperation with the radialsystem.
